World records the Burj Khalifa broke
The Burj Khalifa achieved many records. Along with being the world’s tallest building, it is also the tallest free-standing structure, has one of the highest outdoor observation decks in the world, the largest number of floors in any building (163), and the highest occupied floor. Its elevators include the world’s tallest elevator installation and the longest travel distance for an elevator (504 m). The building also features a swimming pool on the 76th floor, about 270 meters above ground, once recognized by Guinness World Records as one of the highest swimming pools in a building.
The Burj Khalifa in numbers
- It took 22 million man-hours to build the world’s tallest building.
- There are 163 floors above ground, with around 200 structural levels in total.
- The building itself weighs 500,000 tonnes.
- The elevator achieves a speed of 10 m/s, so going up to the 124th floor takes only about 60 seconds!
Plan your visit to the Burj Khalifa
Best time to visit: We recommend visiting during the week, as weekends can be busier. The sunset is also a popular time, so you should visit before or after if you want to avoid crowds at sunset. Although this time is usually busier, it is popular for a reason! The view of Dubai is beautiful with the colors of the setting sun, so if you don’t mind the crowds, enjoy the sun setting over Dubai and snap some great photos!
